These are fun and informative! You get to skate with brand new skaters as well as our veterans. All levels of skaters are welcome. Other rules and regulations are outlined below.
NWA Roller Derby Requirements & General Rules
1. A brand new skater must skate for at least 8 practices before being allowed to take the Minimum Skills Test (MST).
2. Pass the minimum skills requirements as outlined in the WFTDA regulations and according to the following contingencies.
a. At the MST judges’ collective discretion, it may be decided that an aspiring skater is not ready to be placed on a team. An aspiring skater will be allowed three chances to pass MST before being asked to discontinue. If, after three attempts they have not passed the MST they may attempt to retake the MSTs after one calendar year. Interested parties may inquire about other non-skating roles within the league.
b. New skaters who have been placed on a team are subject to a 90 day probationary period and will be evaluated throughout for attitude, skills, improvement and attendance. If at the end of this period skaters are unable to maintain team expectations, such skaters will be asked to discontinue and will be removed from the league.
3. Be at least 18 years of age and provide photo identification.
4. Read and sign NWA Roller Derby waiver.
5. Obtain WFTDA Insurance and supplemental Medical insurance if they do not carry primary insurance that covers activities.
6. Possess proper gear including quad skates, skater’s helmet, mouth guard, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads.
7. Read NWA Roller Derby Official Bylaws and sign statement.
8. Skaters cannot be part of any other Roller Derby League at any time during League Membership. Dual membership with another League will result in immediate removal from NWA Roller Derby.
